Friendly Fire: With friends like this…who needs gun control?

Anger Management! That’s about the only way I could describe the Sunday’s sermon message.  “Be ye not angry brothers and sisters “cautioned the Parson, for it will ruin your Christian witness and place your soul in mortal jeopardy.  ”Look only to John, the brother of Christ“ the pastor continued; John started out as  the “son of thunder” and look over yonder now, “ is that not the good brother chasing butterflies in the field? “ . . ( no the  pastor didn’t really say that last part but that certainly was what the congregation could easily envision).
So what are we talking about here anyway? Just this. While the voice of the 4000 murdered babies (a day) cry out from the ground and many other children are being funneled into abominable lifestyles, we are told by our Christian leaders  that mature Christians are those that are more concerned about guarding their anger than expressing their displeasure. Apparently, good Christians are meant to be emotional idiot savants, loving only and chastising not with the two emotions, love and anger, incapable of fitting into the same spiritual essence.
But doesn’t the bible say “spare the rod and spoil the child” one might ask? Yes, would say the worthy teacher, but only if you can smile and oh, just one gentle lash with that rod, please.  We don’t want to send the wrong message now do we. . .  gotta be very careful about our gentle, loving  image you know.  Oh, and after your emotional outbreak please be sure to apologize for your “anger” and un Christian like behavior to your child. Dr. Spock would be soooooooooo  very, very proud
And what of our public servants that lack any semblance of a moral base?  Well, we still must have that warm smile and open arms for them whilst assuring  them that they are safe in their Roman’s 13 cocoon . Besides , if all else fails ,  we can always pray  that our cosmic genie in the sky will swoop down from above, hit them with his magic wand and make everything all better.
When God does comes back  – soon I suspect if he is overhearing  more and more of these gentile sermons -  I can promise you this; he will not be wearing a love patch on his sleeve, or saying “peace, love joy and understanding”.  Nor will he be expecting his saints to be armed with wet noodles.
There is much, much more to say on the subject matter but after today’s sermon, I am inexplicably feeling a rather strong urge to visit my wife’s dress shop so that I might find a suitable skirt , adorn it and then go forth and hug a tree, blow soap bubbles or chase a butterfly . .  with a smile of course . .

So to be Pollyanna and avoid anger is to be Christian. All things are good, and there is nothing to be angry about while brothers and sisters are persecuted around the world, our rights are eroded away and thousand of preborn humans are murdered under the law. The church says smile and ignore the works of evil and be friends with the world. Is that the basic message you heard? I am angry… wake up church…
