“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:” a well known Bible quote most often ends here ignoring the rest of the verse making this irrelevant because it is not revealing what knowledge. The lack of knowledge is destroying God’s people but why are they lacking? Are all foolish and ignorant? Shall we recognize that absence is as much a choice as participating in acquiring knowledge? Politic defined is knowledgeable in promoting a policy. The ones who blame everyone else are often partially quoting this verse is pointing a finger at others. They say this is the reason for our troubles because other people are to blame being ignorant. Who does the Lord blame?
Is not ignorance a choice? “Because thou hast rejected knowledge,” remains disregarded by most quoting Hosea 4:6 maybe because it points back at self. Ignorance is often a choice and to remain uniformed is exactly this, rejecting knowledge. The unspoken part here is what the knowledge is it that we have rejected. Obviously knowledge of the Lord is an accepted assumption but not really if this addresses His people. Most who make this quote already acknowledge the Lord. Maybe it is the Lord’s laws and His ways are rejected. We who know the Lord are still limited because the Lord is always teaching and nurturing, but what if we stop learning? He doesn’t stop teaching and guiding, we stop listening. The Truth is difficult at times and some want to reject it and continue in a delusion remaining in our comfort zone. This is where most of us remain living and going about our business as usual. Some who believe go on accordingly simply quoting parts of the Bible they like; that which fits their theology. Often we find what points that problem is caused by someone else, this is the root of politics. Next we want a king to fix our problem, to save our children… but this where we lost expecting politicians to fix politics. The large number of churches (God’s people) abstain from politics by being political.
“I will also reject thee,” is the consequence of what our ignorance (rejected knowledge) highlights our own lives as well as our community and nation, even more nationally. Now we are rejected by the Father who offers all knowledge freely. We refuse to hear it and choose to go our own way wanting a king that we choose. Yet when asking for a king the church ignores their responsibility resulting with getting bad ones, then we want God to intervene. We again ignore the knowledge rejecting what the Lord would have His people do. They clearly do not know or we would see unity in the nation of God’s people. We trust that we already have a King far superior to any man but ignore the need for human leadership according the Lord’s will. This is where politics kick in and lead us on a humanist path. A secular humanist government is at best secular humanist. As the people who reject knowledge accepting ignorance are now trusting secular humanist leadership thus we fall farther away from the Lord’s wisdom. Some find political rhetoric to tickle their ears hoping someone will give an answer.
“that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God,” You see here then the result of why we cannot solve our own problems because we do not even have God’s Priest (pastors) to guide us back to the Lord. Now we have fallen so far from the knowledge (God’s laws) we should have, we no longer even have a priest who is of the Lord. These priests, the Lord says, are not His so our priest (pastors) are those we have are chosen by men and trained in the secular humanist seminaries that comply to the knowledge of humanist kings and teachers. How can they be trained in the things of God having been already rejected of God? They forgot the laws of God even teaching that law is no longer in effect. Is this truly what the New Testament teaches? Has the eternal God changed on this issue that His law be obeyed? Has the God who never changes changed?
“ I will also forget thy children.” Oh my and we wonder why it is so hard to raise children today, why they go off on their own ignoring parents/grandparents. Where do our children go to learn? Secular Humanist schools managed by government that God’s people choose? No, they are taught by the world that govern because Gods people are perishing in ignorance. Here is the evidence of a true God and His word because we suffer the consequences of rejecting knowledge. This is not new but the history of man, shown in the time of the struggles of Israel and now the gentiles. What is lost? The family is lost and peace is gone because the children are forgotten. The fathers and mothers grieve for their children. We want politicians to solve these problems but even a good man cannot find his seat in the council of leadership. The people of the Lord do not even know how to judge their own and reject good men because they are without knowledge. Now the secular humanist religions, called by many names even Christian have become pompous people think they cannot find a man good enough they choose unwisely to not participate thinking themselves too righteous to be involved but having a lack of knowledge end up with the worst of choices.
Now if we look at whole of Hosea 4:6 we might see our own error and what brings us to defeat. But if we read the whole book we might even learn more by looking at ourselves and our own deviant behavior we might begin to seek first the Kingdom of God, and follow the old and new as the Lord wills.
