In the upcoming days Minutemen United will be providing you with local, regional and national opportunities to become corporately engaged in the culture war. We will also be providing you with training materials and linking you with seasoned ministries that can assist you in your particular calling. Although our offerings are aimed at Christian men, we acknowledge the invaluable services that Christian women and children have given in support of our cause. However, we firmly believe that it is imperative that Christian men, NOW more than ever, become engaged in today’s world and especially in the USA.
First things first
So, how can you help; how can you become more involved? Before you take that first step we recommend that you prayerfully assess your current surroundings to identify engagement opportunities in your immediate sphere of influence. What is God showing you? Is the most pressing issue feeding the poor? Are your public schools out of control? Are your public servants being good stewards? More than likely all of these issues, and more, are in need of attention in your locality.
Educate Yourself on the Issues of the Day
Let’s say you decide that government schools are where you have been led. You obviously need to start attending school board meetings and get to know the important players but you also need to educate yourself on other issues. Most schools have “gay-straight alliance” clubs, teach evolution as fact, and teach your children that man is the “measure of all things” and that they should develop a lifelong dependency on the State for their critical needs. We highly recommend “hands-on” research like attending school board meetings – or you could even run for a school board seat.
Minutemen United will be providing various links to individuals, organizations, churches etc. that are happy to provide valuable information on subjects of interest and can save you valuable time on research. There are also wonderful Christian websites that offer not only substance but also a taste of what it is like to be involved.
In the meantime, research materials are readily available on the internet, just type your subject into your favorite search engine and “go for it”. Read, study, talk to other like-minded Christians and, if you can, seek out experts in the field.
Helpful Hint
If the killing of unborn children is on your heart, then know that evolutionists, homosexuals, and other humanists are supporting, even founding, members of the pro abortion movement. If you are soldiering in this war, you need to know your enemy, who he is, where he’s coming from, and who’s behind him.
The next step is to start networking
Start in your church or other local organizations, clubs, and even at your workplace (with discretion). Identify other like-minded individuals who share your concerns and views. We are not saying that you can’t do it alone, as with God all things are possible, but there is biblical strength in numbers. You have identified those issues that are closest and most important to you and we can guarantee that others are at least passively aware of them as well.
American pastors have assumed a leadership role in our modern churches and are assisted generally by deacons, and other church leaders. If you are a member of a church and it is pastor led, then solicit the aid of this biblical leader and teacher. Our prayer and belief is that most pastors have done their job by tilling the soil and planting the seeds (which is probably why you are seeking more growth) and would be more that happy to assist you in starting your outreach.
Unfortunately there are some church leaders who aren’t quite on the same page and might need a little nudging. If that is the case we highly recommend that you consider the following link for helping to “warm up” these particular leaders. (read “Light a Fire Under Your Pastor”)
Note: Do not expect politicians or local public officials to carry the water for you. A politician has two goals in life, to get into office and after that – to stay in office. Don’t misunderstand, we don’t say don’t vote for a good Christian if one is running for office, but this is about expectations. The Church should be the body of water upon which the political boat floats. If your public servant isn’t a Christian, we highly recommend considering removing the buoyancy. Again, as with government schools, do not expect politicians to have your best interests at heart.
Let us know about your new adventures. Your successes of course, but your concerns as well. One of the greatest errors we commit is the error of omission. It may be what you didn’t try. Maybe you were afraid, maybe you didn’t feel qualified or weren’t sure God had called you. If you took the personal assessment and you looked thru spiritual eyes, you were allowed to see many bad things. We suspect most if not all were meant for your area of influence. A recent recruit to MMU tells us that he had been made aware of the problems that existed in his public schools but “hesitated” to act on his knowledge. It wasn’t until his son came home from school one day and in tears explained how he was to write a paper on the virtues of Islam that the call struck home. This new member of Minutemen United is now not only called but highly motivated to stay on task.
MEDDIC Our Goal is to Motivate, Educate and Develop and Deploy Individual Christians to become the salt and light of the world – to be a refuge, an oasis, for righteousness. We wish to assist any and all who wish to create an environment where “God is the measure of all things”.
Motivation: Food for thought
Maybe you’re thinking that things will eventually get better on their own or that, well, you just don’t have the time or resources to invest. Before you make that final decision let us tell you a story about another Minuteman.
Paul accepted a position with a well know pharmaceutical firm with a lot of growth potential inside and out of the organization. Everything was going fine until his company decided to offer domestic partner benefits to its employees. Now, although Paul knew that this was not a sound policy for any organization (even a humanist one), he didn’t really give it much thought. Two years later, when Paul walked into his company’s lobby, he was greeted by a rather large display that was promoting a “gay, lesbian month.” The display purported to show all of the “good” qualities of homosexuality and even gave telephone numbers and addresses for pro-homosexual events and support organizations.
Not wanting this matter to go any further uncontested, Paul went directly to his supervisor and over the next two weeks met with several different area supervisors and managers and finally asked to speak to the company’s operational director. Paul could not understand why his company would promote such a lifestyle and especially a pharmaceutical firm that should know exactly what the detrimental effects of the lifestyle were, including its devastating effect on life expectancy. According to the company’s human resource manual, anything that made an employee “feel uncomfortable” was considered harassment, and, as a Christian, this policy certainly made Paul feel that.
To make a long story short, Paul is still with the company, and those promotional opportunities, well, they are non-existent for Paul. Even though he has a college Business degree and considerable business acumen, he has been turned down for every significant promotional opportunity he has applied for. .and there have been plenty. In one of his interviews, a manager even told him that he was afraid Paul’s Christianity might become an issue if he were to manage a group of people. Think about that and I mean, really think about that!!!
Perhaps all this seems a bit remote to you at this point but keep this in mind: the Paul’s of today’s world – and there are plenty of them – are actually advance scouts. You see, in 20 years your little Paul or Paula will be out there in the real world and whether it be in the business world or personal world you can be sure that the “harassment” will be as bad as, or even worse, than Paul’s, if we do nothing about it. Is that what you want things to come to? Remember, for evil to flourish good men need only do … nothing.
We can only ask that you prayerfully consider your children’s future and the future of this great nation which was clearly founded on biblical principles and with the blood, fortunes and lives of those who came in the name of Christ.
