This weekend, Minutemen United plans to learn just how relevant our church leaders are when it comes to the raging culture war that threatens to destroy our nation – specifically in regard to the homosexual agenda. Over the past week we have heard how the Boy Scouts are starting to “see the light” with regard to homosexuals and their “natural” role in scouting. We are also reminded that, with no resistance from the mainstream pulpit, the U.S. Supreme Court is about to officially recognize homosexual marriage. And thirdly, here comes a foul shot from a NBA basketball player (link here) who has proudly announced the he likes guys. He barely had those words out of his mouth when a spokesman for the President of the United Sates, the NFL, and those moral pillars of society, former president Bill Clinton and Nancy Pelosi (among others) applauded the notion. Go Team!
So, what happens next? Does the church body sway silently like a reed in the wind as they did while prayer was stripped from our public schools, or will church leaders once again draw an imaginary line in the sand as they did while the Ten Commandments were torn off the walls of those same institutions? Shall righteousness and truth again fall by the wayside in the shadows of an indifferent and apathetic church?
Minutemen United believes, sadly, that “gay marriage” is a fait accompli…a done deal. It appears that marriage, as God ordained it, is toast and is destined to be relegated to the dung heap of history along with other “good ideas” gone bad. Why, you might ask? Well, that’s easy. “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing”. Or perhaps better stated, for homosexual sin to flourish, “Prissy Pastors” (see audio in the right column) need only utter nothing.
So listen very closely to your parsons this weekend. Will they even address the subject, or will they merely brush by it by so quickly that if you sneeze you’d miss it? Perhaps they’ll take the customary approach and straddle the fence; on one hand talking about how they don’t believe in “gay marriage” while surreptitiously supporting those who do?
Hopefully, the sermon will be on the subject of how God created Adam and then Eve (not Steve) and that there were indeed divine purposes for the anatomical and spiritual differences. Or how about a series of sermons over the next several weeks on the sanctity of marriage so skillfully exposited from every pulpit that the US Supreme Court might actually be forced to hear them? Or (sigh), will we continue to hear more about peace, love, joy and continue to be the “good, kind Christians” that we are, averting attention away from God’s holiness and righteousness while loving and assuaging countless, misguided sinners…right into hell?
Day by painful day we are beginning to see why it is that Christ is coming for HIS Church (and very soon, we expect). We, “The Church”, should, and do know better, and will surely be found without excuse when He arrives.
See you Sunday.
God help us all.
